Nolan is not a huge fan of his crib. He sleeps in it, but as he falls asleep he lets us know that he is not a happy camper. He has now gotten quite good at moving himself around, so he will grab onto the bumper, turn sideways, and try to chew his way out. As you can tell by the picture below he falls asleep sometime during the chewing process...

Colorado
This past week we went to Colorado for 4 days for a wedding reception of one of Nate's friends from high school. It was our first time really traveling with Nolan and let me tell you...it's a lot of work! He did wonderfully, but it's still a lot of work! We flew out of LAX on Thursday morning and 3 minutes into the shuttle ride to the airport Nolan had projectile vomited all over me. Lovely! I had plenty of outfits packed in our carry-on for Nolan, but not any extra for me. Thank goodness we still had access to our bags, otherwise the people sitting around us on the plane wouldn't be too happy about the smell permeating from me!
We got off the shuttle, walked into the United terminal and was greeted by a massively long line. By the time we got our boarding passes, went through security and arrived at our gate the flight was already boarding. We found our seats and settled in, not sure what to expect from Nolan, but he did awesome! He didn't seem to notice that anything was different and he fell asleep midway through the flight. After a quick two hours we had landed in Denver and were greeted by warm weather and sunshine.

After getting the rental car and finding our hotel we headed out to meet a Westmont friend and her family for dinner. It was good to catch up and see their little boy, who is almost a year old. After dinner we went back to our hotel for the night to try and get some sleep!

The following morning we got up and drove to Red Rocks Amphitheater. It was beautiful! We then drove around Highlands Ranch before heading back to the hotel to watch the second half of the USC-Notre Dame football game, thankfully the Trojans won! Then it was time to head to the wedding reception, the reason we came out to Denver in the first place. On our way we drove past the house and neighborhood that Nate grew up in. It was fun to actually see the places that I have heard so much about over the years.

5 months
So this post is a few days late, but here is what you're doing at 5 months:
- You are still wearing a size 2 diaper, but those are starting to get small. Too bad for you, because we still have a whole box of them!
- You are rolling over all the time! You roll from back to tummy and tummy to back now.
- When on your tummy you still get quite frustrated and we think it's because you want to move, but just don't know how. We are starting to worry you are going to be an early crawler...
- You are working on sitting up by yourself. Your balance is getting better and better! Maybe by 6 months!
- You smile all the time! At your mommy and daddy, people you don't know, and even at big advertisements in Target, which is your favorite store (because we are there almost every day).
- Your favorite song is The Wheels on the Bus. It always makes you smile and laugh!
- You are sleeping in your crib every night now...
- However, you are still waking up a lot! We need to work on that pretty soon.
- You started eating solids just a couple of days before you were 5 months. You seem to like rice cereal, although it did not help you sleep any longer!
- You made another trip to Santa Barbara and did a great job! The car really is becoming your friend.
- College football season has started and you don't quite know what to think. You like when people come over to the house and play with you, but you DO NOT like when we cheer loudly or yell at the TV!
- You love your toes and grab onto them all the time, especially in the mornings!
- Your mommy and daddy love you Bubba!

First Teeth
After a month or so of heavy amounts of drooling we were pretty sure that Nolan was teething. By heavy drooling I mean going through 3 outfits a day and not being able to take a picture of him without a "drool bomb" hanging from his lip or chin. Sure enough it turned out to be true. On September 5th his first tooth (bottom right) came in and shortly after on September 15th his second tooth (bottom left) followed. Teething didn't seem to bother him too much, just a couple of fussy nights, but otherwise he was our normal happy baby. If you look closely at the pictures below you can see them...
