My mom and sisters are coming to town next Wednesday! We are so excited to see them and to have them meet Nolan. We will be spending the first couple of days at Disneyland before heading back to our place for a few days.

6 months- in words

Here's what Nolan is up to at 6 months:
  • You weigh 17 pounds 6 ounces, which is at the 50 percentile
  • You are 27 1/4 inches long, 87 percentile
  • You are wearing size 2-3 diapers
  • Depending on the brand you are wearing 3-6 mo, 9 mo, or 6-12 mo clothing right now
  • You have perfected sitting up! We don't have to guard you with our hands nearly as much and if you fall over you are starting to catch yourself.
  • In just the last couple of days you have started to army crawl/scoot. If you see a cell phone, remote control or a water bottle you take off after it! You aren't moving too far or too quickly yet, but I am sure it is only a matter of days! Mom and Dad need to start baby-proofing the house quickly!
  • You took your first plane ride (to Colorado) and did a great job!
  • You went to your first wedding (two of them!)
  • Sleep keeps getting better and better. You rarely wake up 3 times a night now (thank goodness!) and the last few nights you have only woken up once!! Hopefully I didn't jinx it by writing that.
  • You now have 3 teeth! Your top right lateral incisor came in and you have four more (3 on top and 1 on the bottom) coming in anytime now. Even with all those teeth coming in you are still a happy baby! It doesn't seem to be bothering you.
  • You have now tried many different baby foods. Likes: sweet potatoes, butternut squash, peas, bananas. Dislikes: pears, prunes, green beans. Most days you are eating 2 meals of solid food.
  • You have completed your first 5k! Mom and Dad pushed you in the Santa Monica 5000 while you slept.
  • For your first Halloween you were a giraffe. You got a lot of use out of your costume by going to the pumpkin patch twice, the Robinson Elementary Halloween parade (where Mom used to work) and on Halloween we took you out to dinner and for a walk around Manhattan Beach!
  • We love you so much and have the best time with you! This month you finally get to meet your other Grandma and your Aunt Sarah, Veronica, Callista and Jenny!

Pumpkin Patch

This past week Nolan went to the pumpkin patch twice. The first trip was with our Mommy & Me group and all of the babies dressed up in their Halloween costumes. Nolan was a little tired that day, so smiles were hard to come by. We went back to the pumpkin patch this weekend with Nate and snapped some more pictures. We also picked up some pumpkins to carve. They turned out pretty well! I will post pictures soon. I know there are a lot of pictures from the pumpkin patch; I had a hard time picking only a few!

My Caged Animal

Nolan is not a huge fan of his crib. He sleeps in it, but as he falls asleep he lets us know that he is not a happy camper. He has now gotten quite good at moving himself around, so he will grab onto the bumper, turn sideways, and try to chew his way out. As you can tell by the picture below he falls asleep sometime during the chewing process...

Colorado

This past week we went to Colorado for 4 days for a wedding reception of one of Nate's friends from high school. It was our first time really traveling with Nolan and let me tell you...it's a lot of work! He did wonderfully, but it's still a lot of work! We flew out of LAX on Thursday morning and 3 minutes into the shuttle ride to the airport Nolan had projectile vomited all over me. Lovely! I had plenty of outfits packed in our carry-on for Nolan, but not any extra for me. Thank goodness we still had access to our bags, otherwise the people sitting around us on the plane wouldn't be too happy about the smell permeating from me!
We got off the shuttle, walked into the United terminal and was greeted by a massively long line. By the time we got our boarding passes, went through security and arrived at our gate the flight was already boarding. We found our seats and settled in, not sure what to expect from Nolan, but he did awesome! He didn't seem to notice that anything was different and he fell asleep midway through the flight. After a quick two hours we had landed in Denver and were greeted by warm weather and sunshine.

After getting the rental car and finding our hotel we headed out to meet a Westmont friend and her family for dinner. It was good to catch up and see their little boy, who is almost a year old. After dinner we went back to our hotel for the night to try and get some sleep!

Hanging out in the hotel room

The next day we cruised around downtown Denver. We hung out in the world's largest REI store (well, I don't know that for sure, but it was really big!), had lunch at Proto's Pizza with Chris and Tank, and then wandered down 16th street. That night we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory (one of our favorites) for dinner.

The following morning we got up and drove to Red Rocks Amphitheater. It was beautiful! We then drove around Highlands Ranch before heading back to the hotel to watch the second half of the USC-Notre Dame football game, thankfully the Trojans won! Then it was time to head to the wedding reception, the reason we came out to Denver in the first place. On our way we drove past the house and neighborhood that Nate grew up in. It was fun to actually see the places that I have heard so much about over the years.

The following morning we packed up and headed home. Nolan did great once again, he really is so easy most of the time. It was a great trip, but we were tired! It's a lot of work!
